Week 8 Part 2 Fashion Show

Where did all the time all go? Honestly it came by to quick. I woke up around 6:30, honestly I was going to wake up at 5:45 but I couldn’t sleep the night before. With mixed emotions of excitement and nervousness, with a pinch of my cat being a brat, it was hard to wake up early. I ran out the door at 7:30 and went up to Starbucks to get a Pumpkin Spice coffee. It didn’t take me long to realize that I forgot the model release forms on the kitchen table. I drove back home and soon I was back on the highway. While getting to the venue, I got lost (even using the GPS). Thank God Bri answered her phone and told me how to get there. Finally I was there, and at this rate this was only the beginning of my day. By the time the venue opened it was chaos. There were racks being set up, runway, manikins and different tables of jewelry assortment. I was working on that and trying to take attendance of what models were here and have them sign release forms. Soon enough it was an hour away from show time. I was trying to see how the models would walk and in my head I was freaking out about doing commentary. Also I it was the first time my boyfriend Josh’s mother and my mother would meet. My mom can sometimes be intense, I know she means well and I love my mom but sometimes she can really be intense. Also the first time my boyfriends mother, Josh, My friend Lisa, Josh’s neighbor who is good friends with his mom Devy, My Mother, and little cousin Katie Ann get to see me talk about something that I have been studying for about two years. I was really reluctant to do commentary because of being stress because are Mom’s are meeting for the first time and I don’t like public speaking, I get very nervous. As Alana volunteered, I asked her if she could do it all by herself, she said she could but would feel better if someone was up there. Me being a person who has compassion for people felt bad and gave in. Going back to the show I was going through a thousand things in my head when my teacher came up to me. She knew about what was going on with the meeting stuff and she gave me words of encouragement. ‘You are a smart, beautiful, talented young girl, and any boys mother would be lucky to have you.” It took me a second to realize that was one of the nicest things that a teacher has ever told me. That really meant a lot to me and I will always remember that for the rest of my life. I quickly whispered thank you and clam down. It’s hard to develop a relationship with your boyfriends mother when you barley see her. I know Josh always sees my mom because he works and recently just moved into his own apartment out on the west side. So I invited her to this show so she could get to know me , see what I do, and how I can deliver of all my years of learning about fashion into a show. I heard from Josh that she and her friend Devy really enjoyed themselves at the show. Plus her and my mom got along great. They even hugged when my mom was leaving. Next I am looking for something else we ( Josh’s mom and I) can do that will makes know each other and bond more. Going back to the show, after we had practice, we had to finish getting all the models ready. After all the models were ready, the perk about being a commentary. After that the show went underway and it was fantastic I couldn’t be anymore proud of my class, teacher, models, Dress for Success and Ten Thousand Villages.
